Hatch Covers

As NACA, together with our solution partners, we design and produce folding and portable hatch covers for ships carrying dry cargo, containers and bulk cargo.

When designing hatch covers, it is important that all cargo ships take into account the highest possible efficiency of the open deck and cargo area layout. NACA can provide this for you. This allows for quick and safe installation.

Folding hatch covers are designed to carry a variety of deck loads and create functional cargo spaces to facilitate flexible cargo operations.

In the open position, they provide access to the holds for loading and unloading cargo, and in the closed position, they hermetically close the hatch cover.

The arrangement of hatch covers, seals, support pads and positioners has been optimized to ensure an uncompromising seal against the weather to protect the cargo and ensure the safety of the ship.

Folding type hatch covers mostly consist of 2 main panels. One of the panels is fixed to the deck with hinges. While this panel is lifted with the help of rollers, the second panel, to which this panel is connected by hinges, also makes a folding movement and an opening movement.

Portable hatch covers are designed for cargo holds, and hatch opening and closing operations are carried out by gantry cranes, cargo cranes or shore cranes on the ship deck.

Their purpose is to transport a variety of loads and divide cargo spaces into compartments that support flexible cargo operations.

The biggest advantage of this type of hatch covers is that they provide a very long hatch opening to easily load very long loads such as wind vane blades.
